So, in between posts, my site got hacked. Don’t know if it was weak permissions, or one of the light cms’s that I was using.

My restore was kinda funky, so I reinstalled WP, and pulled in the 2 posts from the first install.

So day two:

Install plugin BackWPup
Removed Comments from “pages”, individually (turn on discussions in screen options, and uncheck allow comments)
Made the “home” showcase/li>
added twitter search to rss (to be replaced by a real twitter widget someday)
Joined the wpgr.org google group

First Day:

Installed WordPress from Scriptaculous
Changed to Dark version of theme
Made a blog page, and moved blog posts off home page
removed “powered by wordpress”(appearance, editor,Footer)
changed permalink structure /%post_id%/%postname%/
removed oversized image

Welcome to grWebGuy’s Experiment

All the cool kids on http://grwebdev.org/ are saying the WordPress is the go-to CMS.

I’ve been using gpEasy for billcreswell.com, ‘cuz it’s simple, uses no database, and works in a IIS php site as well as it does in site hosted with Apache, like this host, arvixe. Templating is simple, too.

I also played with GetSimple for Captionwire.com, and liked the html5 theme it came with.

So, I’m turning to the web, and to http://wpgr.org to learn how to mod wordpress.

I no desiger, but I do like to make sure it’s responsive to a smartphone screen, because it’s really begun to bother me to either get a dumbed down site, with limited content, or a full screen that’s hard to read (like a certain theatre chain in my hood). Especially evil is being redirected to a mobile site automatically, without retaining the link I was trying to achieve!
